Flight Departures at Tijuana Airport

Tijuana International Airport is an unusual airport as it is bi-national. In the case of TIJ it means that while the airport is located in Mexico it also has a passenger terminal located on the US side of the border. This is made possible due to the airport’s location just south of the border and a covered pedestrian bridge that stretches from the Main Terminal in Mexico, across the border, to the Cross Border Terminal, CBX, on the US side. The Main Terminal is also referred to as Terminal 1.

While departing passengers can check-in and be processed in the CBX Terminal, all flights take off and land in Mexico. This means all travelers that cross the bridge will go through passport control, customs and immigration when entering the other country.
